Labor Machine Learning & Visual Analytics
Machine Learning & Visual Analytics
Profile and objectives
The Machine Learning & Visual Analytics Lab offers students a practical environment to test and deepen the concepts from the lectures on Machine Learning, Visual Analytics and Natural Language Processing. Established tools such as Tableau or KNIME are used as well as important Python libraries that are relevant to these subject areas.
In addition, students have the opportunity to gain further application experience through realistic projects. Among other things, a standard cordless drill driver equipped with sensors is available in the laboratory for this purpose. These sensors make it possible to record current and voltage data during a drilling process and to record the sound using a microphone. Various machine learning scenarios can be developed on the basis of this data, covering the entire data analysis process from data acquisition and pre-processing to modelling and implementation in a software system.
Another project aims to teach the university's humanoid robot "Sweaty" to speak. By using state-of-the-art speech technology, students are given the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in the highly dynamic field of natural language processing.
In addition, research projects in the aforementioned specialist areas are also carried out in the laboratory.
