Course of Study

The program consists of a total of seven semesters and is divided into basic and main studies. The basic-study phase (first and second semester) includes theoretical and practical subjects as follows:

  • Mathematics I and II
  • Physics I and II
  • Basic Electrical Engineering
  • Basic Computer Science
  • Measurement Technology and Electronics
  • Medical-Engineering Materials and Design
  • Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology
  • Cardiology Devices and Methods
  • Electrophysiology

The main-study phase ( third through seventh semester) serves to deepen the acquired specialist knowledge with the following core subjects:

  •     Analog and Digital Circuit Technology
  •     Radiology and Nuclear Medicine
  •     Cardiological Electrophysiology
  •     Electrostimulation and Electrocardiography
  •     Signals, Systems and Control Loops
  •     Image Generation and Image Processing in Medicine
  •     Clinical Trials and Project Management
  •     Programming in MATLAB
  •     Neurosciences
  •     Quality Assurance
  •     Medical Software Development and Algorithms
  •     Navigation in Surgery
  •     Audio Signal Processing and Neuroacoustics
  •     Embedded Systems
  •     Biosignal Processing
  •     Medical Engineering Project
  •     Business Administration and Law
  •     Hemodynamic Management

These courses are supplemented by corresponding laboratories in which the acquired knowledge is put into practice.

The fifth semester includes a medical-engineering company internship, where students further apply and deepen their knowledge and skills through suitable engineering projects. The program concludes with the preparation of the final thesis (Bachelor’s thesis) in the seventh semester.

It is possible to continue with the Medical Engineering Master's program, which consistently continues the previous studies at the Master's level.
